How to undo a bulk edit in Shopify
Updated 22 October 2026 · 3 minute read
The short answer
Shopify has no undo for the bulk editor or for CSV imports. Once saved, the only way back is to change the values again, by hand or by importing a CSV export taken before the change. Ecomsync records every field before it writes, so any run can be reversed in one click within the plan's undo window, from 3 to 14 days.
Before any bulk change
- Go to Products, select Export and export all products as a CSV.
- Store the file somewhere safe with the date in its name. It is a snapshot of every product field it covers.
After a bulk change went wrong
- Find the export you took before the change.
- Trim a copy of it to the URL handle and Title columns plus the columns that went wrong, so the import rewrites as little as possible.
- Import it with the option to overwrite products with matching handles.
- Check the products. Changes made after your export, by anyone, are overwritten for those columns too.
Without an export from before the change, the old values are gone, and the only record is what people remember.
With Ecomsync
- Every run records each field before it writes, so there is always a before.
- Open the run and choose Undo. Every field the run wrote goes back.
- The undo window is 3 days on Essential, 7 on Growth and 14 on Pro, and the run's history stays visible for 90 days.
Questions
Does Shopify keep a history of product changes?
Not field by field. The admin does not keep earlier versions of a product's fields, so an export taken before a change is the only built-in way to restore one.
Can I undo an Ecomsync run after the undo window?
The history stays visible for 90 days, so you can see every old value. One-click reversal is what ends with the window.
